Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master Brennan Mulligan has kept fans guessing with extensive world-building, a colorful mix of personalities, and a gripping narrative including angels, evil spirits, and dark forces increasing in power within the city.
Note: Spoilers for the third episode of this adventure are included.
The Warrior Group Revealed
The latest chapter ended with a huge suspense moment and revealed the premier party of characters who will split off from the main group to begin their own adventure, distinct from the remaining groups.
The combat-focused team includes the determined fighter (brought to life by Travis Willingham), Thimble (Laura), Tyranny (the cast member), Wicander (the player), and Kattigan Vale (the actor).
Dividing the Cast
With an extensive roster, it was clear from the outset that maintaining everyone at the same party would be impossible.
That’s why, the opening chapters of Campaign 4 serve as an Overture, weaving together the characters’ stories before splitting into three separate parties: Fighters, Schemers, and Questers.
What Defines the Warrior Group
According to Brennan Lee Mulligan, the combat-focused party is for players who prefer a traditionally charged fight-heavy narrative style where peaceful solutions are rare.
At first glance, figures such as the squeamish cleric the cleric might appear out of place, but the events of the third episode demonstrate why these five characters are perfectly fit for the combat party.
Motivations for Departure
First, the party understands precisely where to go next after a violent initial meeting with The Crow Keepers.
An old friend of Thjazi Fang—whose death initiated the narrative’s action—manipulated the foes for his selfish purposes, invading Thjazi’s hideout, assaulting Thimble, and swiping all the enchanted items to sell off.
The traitor then settled his debts and ran away to a secure base in Gormalay, Timmony, beyond Dol-Makjar, with Cyd Pridesire close behind.
Personal Motivations
Moreover, each member has a individual motive to exit the urban setting:
- The agile hero, as the close ally and best friend, seeks retribution.
- The adventurer is familiar with Timmony and cautions that it is a nasty place.
- Tyranny and Wicander, having defied his relatives’ demands to eliminate the fighter and instead rescued him, have no safe haven.
- Yet, their position as prominent individuals in the powerful family could enable the party reach places they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Additionally, The grateful character swore a unbreakable promise to The cleric for his deliverance and will now go with him anywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
Lastly, all of them are wanted by the authorities that rule Dol-Makjar for a variety of reasons, making remaining behind dangerous:
- Thimble and Kattigan are known criminals.
- The strong figure and Wicander betrayed the powerful family and the legion of demons they are partnered with.
- The target is marked for death by the clan.
This leaves them few options but to journey toward the northern region in quest for Casimir.
Future Episodes
According to the recent installment’s follow-up content, we discover that the warrior group will not appear next week, leaving the rest of the participants to round up the Seekers and Schemers groups.
